It’s been a long time coming, but tonight we saw the 6-episode revival of X-Files share the beginning of the new journey with us. We all got to know the story of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully between 1993 to 2002, when the original 9 seasons aired. The series was created by Chris Carter, but keep in mind that it’s also where Vince Gilligan began to flex his writing skills and recieved accolades for episodes such as “Erlenmeyer Flask” (Season 1 Edisode 24). Vince went on to bring us the finest morality play ever created for television, Breaking Bad.
This first episode of Season 10 started strong, and it’s great to see so many of the original cast return to breath life into their characters again. With all the ‘reboots’ coming out of Hollywood, I was very happy that this very much feels like a continuation of the series instead of a retelling or yet another origin story of characters we already know.
I look forward to rewatching the episode, especially taking notes of the part where Fox Mulder is giving a voiceover of the history of the X files, and doing some Google searches of the items he mentions through history.
This journey will continue Monday night on FOX at it’s regular time 8/7c.
